Job Description

As a Senior Strategist at The Mach 1 Group, you will translate high-level strategies into actionable plans that yield concrete outcomes for our esteemed clients. You will support Mach 1’s Vice President and Senior Vice President in ensuring client needs are met through content generation, tactical execution and day-to-day account management. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring our clients’ messages resonate effectively with their target audiences.

We’re seeking individuals with a strong work ethic and a history of executing successful communication plans in government, policy or newsroom settings. Team players are a must!

Starting salary ranges from $70,000 – $85,000, depending on public relations experience. This position is mostly remote but requires travel for client meetings and events. During the Legislative Session every other year, team members must be available to be in Austin from January to May at the last minute.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in government, policy communications, public affairs or journalism.
  • Proven success in developing and executing strategic communication plans that deliver measurable results.
  • Strong understanding of policy issues, government processes and the media landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in crisis communication and issues management is a plus.
  • Leadership skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in relevant communication tools and platforms.
